Lessons Learned #1: Travel Light

I remember years ago traveling with a suitcase the size of a refrigerator and a totally separate bag for all of the shoes. Deb and I discovered the art of traveling light on our first European trip (Rick Steves 21 days, 6 countries). Carrying less is best, and who really cares what you wear on your adventure. This is our third trip and our goal is to carry as little as possible. We each carry one bag that is 9x21x14. Amazingly, you can fit a lot of stuff in this small carry-on bag. So, what items will make the cut...2 pairs of pants (wear one, carry one), 5 shirts, 1 skirt, sweater/jacket, raincoat, socks, underwear, toiletries, two pairs shoes (closed shoes & sandals), trip books, camera, and last but important, a travel pillow (more about that later). Amazing that you can travel that far and long with this small sized bag.

Have a great trip.
